There are now several reports out that Bethesda will soon announce the next game in the Elder Scrolls series.

I think those of us that played Oblivion and the Fallout games can all agree.

Change the goddamn engine.

I will end up getting this game regardless of the game engine but it would be great if they finally adopted a new engine. I just hope it comes out roughly around the end of 2011 or even beginning of 2012 because there are a bunch of games I want coming out in March 2011 and that's seriously going to hurt my pockets and free time.

They're not...not really. They say it's an update of the Fallout 3 engine, in much the same way that Oblivion was an update of the Morrowind engine. Which is to say, a massive upgrade. So maybe they fixed a bunch of stuff. I don't care either way, though.

Anyways, I'm all for another Elder Scrolls game. They always take forever, but it's okay since the game are always awesome.

Eh.

Elder Scrolls has gone downhill since Morrowind. Give me back a world that feels alive, cities with more than 5 NPCs, and a wilderness I'm actually interested in exploring. Let me figure out what the plot is, don't throw it in my face. The best games let you make your own story - Elder Scrolls has stuck to a very, very linear main story for longer than I would like.

I have a whole rant about how to make ES V the best game ever, but I've given it too many times and it would take too long to type out.

You can type it into a text document of some sort so you can copy/paste it every time you want to inform/rant/complain at people.

I'm pretty sure I broke my character on Oblivion, and hearing that they may be announcing the next one makes me very, very happy. I just really hope they remove the fast travel option. I want my stilt striders back.

@Hippie: agreeeee. In oblivion I think they became to preoccupied with shiny graphics and console porting. If it were a PC-only title, I think they probably could have done vastly more with it.

I'm also waiting for the "whole rant." Holding my breath so plz hurry!

EDIT: Glancing over page 1, I guess they've improved upon the Radiant AI as well...hopefully this time it's as SUPER AEWSUM when they release the game. (Since apparently the AI in Oblivion was dumbed down to nothing)
